Outdoor T&F Ready to Hit the Ground Running in Home Opener

Leavenworth, Kan—The Spire Outdoor Track & Field team is defrosting and gearing up for yet another exciting 2026 outdoor season, beginning right on our home turf at Berkel Memorial.

The Spires will kick things off in a big way, putting on what has quickly turned into one of the largest distance carnivals in the metro. USM is set to host a major weekend, beginning with the 2026 Spire Distance Carnival tomorrow evening with distance athletes from all across the area heading to Leavenworth to compete in what is set to be a picturesque start to the 2026 outdoor campaign. The Distance Carnival will heat up as the sun sets, with a tentative start time slated for 7:00 p.m.

Saturday the festivities will continue with the Spire Team Challenge. Throwers will kick off day two at around 11:00 a.m. with men's and women's pole vault to follow in the field events. Track events are tentatively set to begin at 4:00 p.m. with the women's 4x100-meter relay and the men's 4x100 to follow. Upon the completion of the 4x100 relays, USM will proudly recognize the Spire Seniors and continue with the remainder of the events upon conclusion.

All information and event schedules for the Spire Distance Carnival and Team Challenge can be found on the USM athletics page. Live results will be available through Black Squirrel Timing, and streamed through the Urban Edge Network.
