Springfield, Mo.—Spire men's soccer fell to a scrappy Evangel Valor squad in Missouri on Wednesday, October 29
th in a match that saw aggressive play from both sides, as each team in the conference is battling to stay alive for the post season.
Sophomore midfielder,
Rylan Nowak, was the first Spire on the board in the first half, scoring off a key assist from senior teammate,
Benjamin Macias. However, this would be the only USM goal going into halftime, facing an uphill battle against the Valor's 3 goals.
In the 53
rd minute, USM netted another one as familiar face
Robin Van Voorst took it to the house on his own in attempts to keep his team in the game. However, this would not be enough as the damage had already been done by Evangel's Andrea Fincato tallying the 4
th and final goal of the match for the Valor. Senior goalkeeper for the Spires,
Angel Jacinto, would end the night with 3 saves on 7 shots on goal through his 90 minutes of play for USM.
The Spires will regroup and tackle their final regular season match up against the Bethel College Threshers in North Newton, Kansas on Saturday, November 1
st at 7:30 p.m. Your Spire men's soccer team currently sports a record of 6-9-2 overall and 4-7-1 in KCAC play.
