North Newton, Kan—Spire men's soccer emerged victorious with a 4-1 win against the Bethel College (KS) Threshers on Saturday, November 1
st on a chilly evening at Thresher Stadium in North Newton, Kansas.
The Spires took an early lead with a goal by
Mario Santoro at the 12:58 mark of the first half, assisted skillfully by
Fabian Duarte. This initial momentum was rapidly followed by a second goal from
Rylan Nowak just minutes later at 14:34, which he secured with an assist from Santoro. The first half dominance was further cemented by
Joel Herrera, who scored at 39:44, concluding the half with the Spires leading comfortably at 3-0 over the Threshers. The key defensive position was held by
Angel Jacinto, who showcased a solid performance as goalie for Saint Mary with three saves to keep the Threshers at bay all evening.
In the second half, Bethel's Branden Balvanz managed to score at 52:06, marking the only goal for the Threshers. Despite this, the Spires maintained their confidence and sealed their triumph with another goal by
Mario Santoro at 81:59, assisted by
Rylan Nowak. This rounded off a notable match where Santoro notably contributed two goals and one assist, and Nowak also made significant contributions with one goal and one assist.
