McPherson, Kan.--Spire football saw a tough outing as USM faced off against the top 20 ranked McPherson College Bulldogs in a Bissell Division showdown on Saturday, October 25
th, at McPherson, Kansas with a final score of McPherson 66-0 Saint Mary.
The Bulldogs established dominance early in the game, quickly scoring and setting the tone. By halftime, McPherson had built a daunting 45-0 lead. The Spires struggled throughout the afternoon to counter the Bulldogs' offensive strategies.
Despite the challenging conditions and scoreline, USM made notable efforts.
Zakary Rocha contributed with 141 kick return yards, and
Garrett Hunnicutt added 58 passing yards along with 20 rushing yards. Additionally,
Kameron Smith rushed for 30 yards and
Delvin Lewis pulled in 39 receiving yards.
The Spires will look to regroup as they prepare for next Saturday against the Sterling Warriors at Sterling College on November 1st with a 1:00 p.m. kick-off. The Spires currently hold a 2-6 record for the season.
