Lawrence, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Men's Basketball team took on College of the Ozarks Saturday, resulting in a 92-70 win over the Bobcats. The Spires are now 3-2 on the season as they look to open KCAC play against Tabor College on Wednesday.
Joe Burgos and Quentin Williams opened the game for Saint Mary with three-point shots to make it 8-0. Then Mason Belcher made a three to give the Spires a 17-point lead just six minutes into the game. Saint Mary continued to keep the pressure on the Bobcats throughout the half extending their lead to 48-30.
To start the second half Burgos again hit a three, then Deshaud St. Martin scored 12 straight points for the Spires making the score 63-46 with under 13 minutes to go in the game. Luke Mackey and Shawn Person hit back-to-back threes after St. Martin's run to give Saint mary a 14-point lead. Joey Schultz sealed the game with a dunk. St. Martin had a season-high 24 points, along with ten rebounds on the day.
