LAWRENCE, Kan. – The University of Saint Mary volleyball team continued their winning streak, taking their fifth consecutive match, a 3-1 (25-17, 21-25, 25-23, 25-18) win over Haskell Indian Nations University Tuesday night.
The Spires are 14-7 overall on the season, heading into KCAC play.
The Spires and Indians would split the first two sets, with Saint Mary taking the first one 25-17 and Haskell winning a close 25-21 decision in the second frame.
Saint Mary fought back from an early 3-1 deficit in the third set to work their way to a 10-8 lead. The Spires would lose the lead again, but came back to take a 23-21 advantage before Haskell tied it up. Cali Odom and Delaney Deckard then combined for the final two points of the set with one kill each, as Saint Mary took a 2-1 match lead.
USM's momentum continued in the fourth set as they grabbed a 15-10 lead over the Indians. Saint Mary extended their lead to seven points at 19-12 after a service ace from Cody Offerle – forcing a Haskell timeout. The Spires would hang on for the lead and take the frame by a score of 25-18.
Odom led the team with 10 kills and Ashley Van Gieson added 13 assists. Keishla Reyes led the way with 18 digs.
