PERU, Neb. – The University of Saint Mary volleyball squad won the first two sets easily, before coming back in the third and sweeping Peru State College 3-0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-23).
The Spires now sit at 12-7 overall on the season.
Saint Mary would take the first set in a tight battle, winning 25-19. The Spires closed the set with the duo of Ashley Van Gieson and Anna Hester blocking potential point. Saint Mary continued to put the pressure on the Bobcats – taking the second frame, 25-13. The Spires went on an 8-0 run at 13-9 to break away from Peru State.
Peru State came back in the third set – going up 23-19, but the Spires tied the score at 23 down the stretch. The Spires would prevail in the end – scoring the final two points with a kill from Jessica Malizzi, followed by an attack error by the Bobcats.
Cody Offerle had a team high 10 kills and Haydan Heuermann recorded 18 assists. Keishla Reyes totaled 19 digs.
