LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – On the University of Saint Mary volleyball's annual senior night, the Spires were able to continue their winning ways, sweeping Avila University in three straight sets 3-0 (25-13, 25-23, 25-18) inside the Ryan Sports Center Saturday night.
The Spires are now 24-14 overall and 9-3 in the KCAC and finish the regular season ranked fourth in the KCAC.
Prior to the match, seniors Katy Koepke, Angela Wade and Kendall Nick were honored for their contributions to the volleyball program.
GAME FLOW
Saint Mary broke away from Avila in the first set after leading just 12-9, bolting to a 23-11 advantage capped off by a kill from Bailey Wright. The Spires would add two more points in the set and take the frame 25-13.
Avila grabbed an early 10-6 lead on the Spires in set two and both teams would trade punches throughout. The Spires battled and would wind up taking the set 25-23 after a kill from Cali Odom to clinch it. Saint Mary had another close set with the Eagles leading 17-16, but managed to pull away late. Cody Offerle added a kill and service ace, while Wright recorded a kill to extend the Spires' lead as they would take the set 25-18 in the end.

The Spires clinched the No. 4 seed in the upcoming KCAC Tournament, which will take place in Hutchinson, Kan. on Nov. 9-10.
