Spires Fall to No. 6 Eagles, 89-66

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – No. 6 Oklahoma Wesleyan University was too much to overcome for the University of Saint Mary men's basketball team, as the Spires fell 89-66 on the road. Saint Mary is now 1-5 overall and 1-2 in the KCAC.

GAME FLOW
Oklahoma Wesleyan pulled away in the second half after Saint Mary battled with the Eagles throughout. The Spires grabbed their first lead of the game at 18-17 with just under 10 minutes left in the first half, after a basket from Teyvon Lundy. Lundy would later hit a three-pointer followed by a basket from Dan Hailey as the Spires led 35-33 at halftime.

The Eagles would outscore the Spires 56-31 in the second half, regaining the lead at 43-40 with 16:08 remaining in the game. Oklahoma Wesleyan extended the lead to double-digits with 10 minutes left and never looked back.

KEY STATISTICS

  • Lundy added a team high 16 points, while Raylon Howard had 15 and Hailey had 12.
  • Howard and Hailey each grabbed eight rebounds as the Spires totaled 33 on the night.
  • Oklahoma Wesleyan made 10 three-pointers compared to seven for Saint Mary.
