BELLEVUE, Neb. – The University of Saint Mary volleyball team split their two matches on Friday on the campus of Bellevue University. The Spires defeated Dickinson State 3-2 (25-22, 16-25, 25-22, 21-25, 15-8) and fell to Bellevue University 3-1 (17-25, 25-23, 20-25, 9-25).
The Spires are now 21-13 overall.
GAME FLOW (Dickinson State)
Saint Mary took the first set by a narrow 25-22 score, but would fall in the second set 25-16. The third and fourth sets had the same flow as the Spires would grab a 2-1 match lead with another 25-22 win. Dickinson State however, would force a fifth set with a close 25-21 fourth set decision. Saint Mary then dominated the final set – winning 15-8.
GAME FLOW (Bellevue)
The teams split the first two sets with Bellevue taking the first 25-17 and Saint Mary fighting off the Bruins 25-23. Bellevue then took a 2-1 match lead, winning the third set 25-20. The Spires would also fall in the fourth set, 25-9.

Saint Mary has a quick turnaround as they return to the Ryan Sports Center Saturday to host Stephens College. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
