Soccer Drops a 2-0 Decision to Friends U.

Wichita, Kan.— The University of Saint Mary (2-5-2) fell 2-0 to Friends (KS) (6-2-1) on the road Wednesday, September 30th, at Adair-Austin Stadium in Wichita, Kansas. Huerta's unassisted goal was a boost of energy for the Spires in the match, but the Falcons found the net in the second-half to keep USM from drawing level.

USM sought an equalizer midway through the first. Mario Santoro had the Spires' first shot blocked, and Jude Rodwell took their first corner kick. The Spires reached halftime trailing 1-0 despite a 7-2 disadvantage in shots.

Xavier Ezell kept the deficit at one goal early in the second half, saving Huerta's attempt. The Falcons extended the lead when Castillo scored an unassisted goal. Ezell played all 90 minutes and finished with one save against three shots on goal.

Luis Rincon tested Lewis putting a shot on goal shortly after returning to the match. The Spires also earned four second-half corners but could not convert those chances. Rincon recorded one shot on goal, joining Santoro in the box score with one shot. Lewis made two saves to complete the shutout.

Friends finished with a 10-3 advantage in shots and a 3-2 edge in shots on goal, while the Spires led 5-4 in corner kicks.
