The University of Saint Mary Spires football team secured an exciting 48-19 victory against the Avila Eagles in a beautiful Saturday afternoon match up in Kansas City.
The game commenced with a balanced first half, concluding with a 6-6 tie at halftime. However, momentum shifted dramatically in the second half as the Spires came out swinging.
Kameron Smith was a standout leader, delivering three rushing touchdowns that were crucial in establishing and maintaining a sizeable lead.
Michael Gazzana and
Erick Covington connected on a huge play with a 68-yard touchdown pass, bolstering the team's confidence.
Defensively, the Spires were equally impressive.
Michael Graham turned the game's tide with an interception return for a touchdown.
Cameron Walton's fumble recovery for a touchdown further exemplified the team's defensive capabilities. In the fourth quarter,
Demarkus McCoy capped the scoring with a rushing touchdown, sealing the victory for USM.
