Leavenworth, Kan.--Spire women's basketball had another huge home opportunity on Thursday, November 6
th at the Ryan Sports Center. USM women's team battled against Williams Baptist University and came out on top over the Eagles with a final score of 87-83.
The night kicked off with Williams Baptist taking an early lead, but Saint Mary quickly responded. Sophomore
Addison Tower of Saint Mary hit key three-pointers early on, with senior
Saige Grampsas assisting effectively, helping the Spires to a first quarter lead of 23-15. By halftime, the Spires had extended their advantage to 45-32, thanks in part to strategic plays by
Keely Barnard and continued court awareness from Grampsas.
Williams Baptist attempted a comeback in the third quarter, narrowing the gap as they capitalized on free throws and easy layups. However, USM maintained their lead, closing the third period ahead at 60-57. The final quarter saw continued excellence from
Addison Tower and
Keely Barnard, whose three-pointers sealed the victory for Saint Mary.

Saige Grampsas, who dominated with 9 assists and 2 steals.
Mary Olson also contributed significantly with 8 rebounds.
USM will take a quick breather and prepare to face the Park University Pirates on Wednesday, November 12
th with tip-off slated for 5:30 p.m. in Parkville, Missouri. The Spires currently hold a season record of 2-1 with conference play just around the corner, beginning on Saturday, November 15
th against the Threshers.
