North Newton, Kan.—Saturday, November 15
th marked the start of KCAC play for the 2025-2026 season as the University of Saint Mary Spires faced off against the Bethel College Threshers in North Newton, Kan. The face-off concluded with the Spires falling 68-79 to the Threshers, marking a tough competition that showcased the skills and perseverance of both squads.
The first quarter initiated with a quick 3-pointer from Caryn Yoder of Bethel, aided by Madyson McKinzie, setting an early pace for the Threshers. In response,
Summer Wieneke of Saint Mary landed a significant 3-pointer towards the close of the first. Despite
Keely Barnard's vital two-point bucket, Bethel maintained a slim lead, ending the first ahead at just 19-17. The Spires and Threshers kept the scores tight in the second period, exchanging baskets amidst fouls, concluding at a tied halftime score of 36-36.

Saige Grampsas. However, Bethel continued to challenge vigorously, narrowly leading at 59-58 going into the fourth. The final quarter saw Bethel assert their dominance with consistent plays and key defensive rebounds, ultimately securing their win with a final score of 79-68.

th as USM hits the road to York, Nebraska for a 5:00 p.m. tip-off. The Spires hold a current record of 3-2 (0-1) in what is set to be a very exciting year.
