USM Women's Wrestling Kicks-Off a Promising 2025-2026 Season

The University of Saint Mary's women's wrestling program is underway for a highly competitive 2025-2026 season with familiar head coach, Chuck Kearney, who has been at the forefront since the inception of the women's program at USM, alongside assistant coaches and former USM wrestlers, Riley Jaramillo and Gabe Blough, with Director of Ops/Head AT Raeann Bromert.

Coach Kearney remarked how proud he was of the KCAC for being the first athletic conference to sanction a championship conference tournament on the women's side, with the NAIA following closely behind. The women's programs have grown throughout the conference at each KCAC school adding to the level of competition, national recognition, and growth globally that women's collegiate wrestling is currently experiencing.

The Spire women retained key athletes through Alexsys Jacquez, 2x KCAC Champion in the 110-weight class and 2x NAIA All-American, with teammate, and sister, Eyvori Jacquez notably recognized as a KCAC Champion in the 103-weight class and Top 12 finisher at the NAIA National tournament. Amelia Frounfelter, 2x national qualifier, Destiny Jones, Rachel Dismuke, Allison King, and Skylur Lewis round out a solid nucleus of returning athletes who know and love the program and have stepped up as leaders in a big way.
Speaking of stepping up, freshman Holly Thacher is one the coaching staff has been highly impressed with. Thacher is a 4x reigning high school State Champion in the state of Kansas, coming to USM from Oskaloosa High School in Oskaloosa, Kansas. Kristal Zamora, Kamahni Jackson, Gwen Musser, Kodi Best, and Ka'aulani Hew-Len are up and coming freshman eager to make their own marks on the mat.

The Spire women kicked-off their opening weekend at the Falcon Invite in Wichita, Kansas during this Halloween weekend in Hartman Arena. As the season begins, USM athletes are unwavering in their commitment and preparation into the levels of success this year could have in store for them.
