Park City, Kan. - The University of Saint Mary Women's Basketball team traveled to Tabor College to play in the Championship game of the KCAC Postseason Tournament on Monday. The Spires fell short one point in overtime, resulting in a 72-71 loss, giving the Spires an overall record of 25-6 on the season.
Tabor made the first shot of the game, but Alanis Delgado was quick to respond to keep Saint Mary with them. The entire first quarter, the Blue Jays led by a basket, and the Spires battled to stay within striking distance of the lead. The second quarter was slower for Saint Mary, allowing Tabor to build a nine-point lead, making the half-time score 27-18.
Tanea Sims stood out in both her defensive and offensive play throughout the night. Sims totaled 15 offensive rebounds and 33 points throughout the game. The fourth quarter is where Saint Mary battled back, outscoring their opponent 25-15. Tanae Sims made a layup to tie the game 60-60 with four seconds left. Going into overtime, the Spires took a decisive five-point lead, but Tabor put together a late scoring run to win the game.
