Bartlesville, Okla.- The University of Saint Mary Men's Basketball team traveled to take on the Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles for a conference matchup on Saturday, resulting in a 76-64 loss. The Spires are now 11-11 overall and 7-9 in conference play.
After a dominating home performance on Wednesday against Sterling, the Spires looked to carry that momentum down to Oklahoma. Saint Mary started slowly, falling behind early. However, shots from Joey Schultz and back-to-back three-pointers from Jordan Brown set the tone for a competitive game. Both teams exchanged baskets throughout the half. The Eagles held a narrow 31-30 lead at halftime, barely edging the Spires. Kaeden Bonner and Brown led the scoring for USM with 10 and 9 points, respectively.
Saint Mary had another sluggish start to the second half, falling behind in the first five minutes. The Eagles went on a 15-6 run and earned a 10-point deficit. From this point onward, the Spires had a hard time cutting into the Eagle's lead. Saint Mary ultimately lost on the road 76-64.
