Men's Basketball Gets Road Win Over Bulldogs

McPherson, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Men's Basketball team traveled to play McPherson College on Saturday, resulting in an 84-71 win. This marks the Spire's eighth win in their last nine games, bringing their overall record to 15-11 with a conference record of 11-9.

Blake Chadwick gave Saint Mary their first lead of the night with a three-point shot four minutes into the game. Joey Schultz hit back-to-back layups to extend that lead, making the score 11-6. More threes helped solidify the Spire's lead, a lead which they wouldn't be lost for the rest of the night. Saint Mary went on an 11-2 scoring run later in the second half to take a double-digit lead and continued to outscore the Bulldogs and entered halftime up 48-29.

McPherson chipped away at the significant Saint Mary lead after the break, making it a ten-point game. By the midway point of the second half, the Spires held a narrow five-point lead over the Bulldogs. Layups from Jordan Brown and Tysen Brennan woke up the Saint Mary offense, and free throws from Deshuad St. Martin and Kaden Bonner secured the 81-64 win for the Spires.
