(SPRINGFIELD, MO) — The University of Saint Mary volleyball team's 2024 season came to an end Tuesday night as they fell to Evangel University in the KCAC Quarterfinals with a 3-0 loss at AGFinancial Arena. The Spires finish the season with an 18-13 record overall, placing sixth in the KCAC standings.
Saint Mary showed resilience in a competitive second set, falling just short at 25-23 after dropping the first set 25-18. Despite a determined effort, the Spires couldn't overcome the Valor's strong offensive performance in the third set, ending with a 25-15 final score.
The Spires were led by senior Madison Folsom with 8 kills and a .133 hitting percentage, while Ainsley Gardner contributed 7 kills and a .250 hitting clip. Renata Dominguez and Reagan Davis added key points for the Spires with 6 and 5 kills, respectively. Setter Ivory Howat recorded a team-high 11 assists, while Macey Adams anchored the defense with 11 digs.
Evangel maintained offensive pressure, led by Loran Pritchett with a game-high 15 kills and Jessica Pritchett with 37 assists. As a team, Evangel registered a .275 hitting percentage, finding momentum in both their attack and defense.
The University of Saint Mary caps their season with pride after a series of strong performances throughout the year, looking forward to building on this season's success in the future.
