Bartlesville, Okla.- The University of Saint Mary Men's Basketball team took on the Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles tonight, resulting in a 93-48 loss. The Spires are now 8-18 overall and 4-16 in the KCAC.
After Deshaud St. Martin gave the Spires the early lead with his three-pointer, the Eagles went on a 13-0 run to force a USM timeout. Joey Schultz and Luke Mackey helped keep the Spires in it, hitting big shots to cut the Eagle lead to 15-9. With under 12 minutes left in the half, the lead continued to grow for the Eagles as the Oklahoma Wesleyan defense made it difficult for USM to score. The Eagles closed the half out with two different scoring runs to take a 52-17 lead at the break.
The second half showed Saint Mary continuing to fight as Braylen Duncan, and St. Martin scored quickly. The offensive production from Oklahoma Wesleyan paired with their stout defensive play made it very difficult for Saint Mary to get anything going. The Spires ended up shooting 26% from the field while the Eagles shot 52.9% as they cruised to a 93-48 victory. St. Martin led his team with 10 points and six rebounds on the night.
