Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Men's Basketball team hosted Oklahoma Wesleyan on Wednesday, resulting in a 75-45 loss. The Spires are now 5-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
Saint Mary opened the game with strong offensive play and was able to keep up with the Eagles. Deshaud St. Martin gave the Spires a one-point lead after converting the and-one play with a free throw to make it 11-10. After five scoreless minutes, the Eagles sparked a 20-5 run to take a commanding 30-16 lead over Saint Mary with five minutes left in the half. Late threes from Tysen Brennan and Demarius Houston stopped the bleeding for the Spires and cut the Eagle's lead to 12 heading into the break.
After halftime, Oklahoma Wesleyan continued to extend their lead over Saint Mary with an 11-4 scoring run to open the second half. Joey Schultz and St. Martin accounted for most of the points for Saint Mary down the stretch as Oklahoma Wesleyan amassed a 22-point lead with five minutes to go in the game. A late three from Terique Swareh made the final score 75-45.
