Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Football team hosted the Ottawa Braves on Saturday, resulting in a 28-17 loss. The Spires are now 2-5 overall and in the KCAC.
Both teams got out to a fast start with opening drive touchdowns to make it a 7-7. Jartavious Martin had a two-yard run to open the scoring for Saint Mary. The Spires soon took the lead in the final minutes of the first quarter with a field goal from Josh Bingham to make it 10-7. Ottawa scored the only points of the second quarter after a quick three-and-out from the Spires. This gave the Braves a 14-10 lead and the end of the first half.
Saint Mary was halted on offense to open the third quarter. Landon Beecham intercepted the Braves quarterback on the ensuing drive and walked into the endzone to give the Spires a 17-14 lead. However, Ottawa scored 14 unanswered points to make it a 28-17 final
