Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Women's Soccer team played at home on Saturday against the Bethany Swedes, winning 2-1. The Spires are now 5-9-1 and 5-4-1 in the KCAC.
The Swedes pressed hard to begin the game, with a quick goal. The Spires answered quickly as Erin Walden scored from distance tying the game at 1-1 going into halftime. Morgan Young nearly gave Saint Mary the lead heading into halftime, hitting the post just wide of the net.
The Second half started slowly as both teams struggled to create any offensive chances. In the fifty-fourth minute, Young broke away and found the back of the net, scoring the game-winning goal and giving the Spires a 2-1 lead. Young lead Saint Mary with three shots and two shots on goal.
