North Newton, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Women's Soccer team traveled to take on Bethel College for a mid-week matchup Wednesday night, resulting in a 6-1 loss. The Spires are now 5-10-1 on the season and 5-5-1 in the KCAC.
Each team pressed offensively to open the game, taking multiple shots. Just before the twenty-minute mark, the Threshers scored three quick goals to take the lead. However, the Spires continued to take shots and get on the board before the end of the half. Bethel scored one more time to make the score 4-0 heading into halftime.
Coming out of the half, the Threshers made it 5-0 after a quick goal just three minutes into the second period. Saint Mary answered with a goal of their own when Grace Runyan scored after a botched clearance from Bethel. The Spires kept the offensive pressure up with shots on goal from Elizabeth Serago and Kelsey Ray, but none found the back of the net. Bethel scored one last goal at the sixty-seven-minute mark, making the final 6-1.
