Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Volleyball team took on Stephens College Wednesday, resulting in a three-set win (25-23, 25-16, 25-17). The Spires are now 14-10 and 3-2 in the KCAC, heading into a matchup at Avila University Friday.
The Spires started set one strong with two consecutive kills by Devyn Ford and another on an attacking error. As Stephens College battled back to tie the set at 6-6, things went back and forth for each team. At the end of the set, junior Keagan Shockley single-handedly shut the door on Stephens, scoring the Spire's last four points for the 25-23 win.
Saint Mary came out for the second set with a spark as they went up 5-1. Stephens fought back, making the set 5-4 in favor of the Spires. The set stayed close for a majority of the set, with key plays on both sides of the ball by Ford helping to get momentum back for Saint Mary.
Both teams traded off points to begin the third and final set. Saint Mary showcased great ball movement as multiple Spires received kills giving USM a comfortable 8-3 lead. Saint Mary cruised to a comfortable win against Stephens by a score of 25-17 in set three, completing the sweep. Shockley and Rylee Kenitzer led the Spires with nine kills each on the night.

The Spires will hit the road for a doubleheader against Avila University and College of the Ozarks starting at 1 p.m. on Friday in Kansas City, Missouri.
