LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – The University of Saint Mary volleyball team fell in three sets to Tabor College Friday night inside the Ryan Sports Center, in their first home match of the season.
Saint Mary is now 0-3 overall and 0-3 in the KCAC.
Both teams squared off in the first set battling to a 6-6 tie. Five straight points from the Bluejays led to an 11-6 lead before the Spires earned points from Hana Ronnebaum and Jalen Keener to cut the lead. Tabor then went on a 14-6 run to close out the set, 25-14.
Saint Mary found themselves within striking distance early in the second set trailing 11-10. Tabor however, managed to score four straight points. Ronnebaum would add two kills for the final points in the set for the Spires as the Bluejays took a 2-0 match lead with a 25-14 win. The Spires gained some ground in the third and final set playing the Bluejays all the way to an 18-16 deficit. Haydan Heuermann and Jalen Keener both added kills to trim the lead to 20-18. Tabor then scored five straight points to take the 25-18 set win.
Ronnebaum led the team with eight kills, while Heuermann had 20 assists. Caela McGee (13), Catherine Mudd (10) and Emma Prothe (10) all notched double-digit digs.
UP NEXT
The Spires will travel to Newton, Kan. to take on Southwestern College and Bethel College on Oct. 28. The action begins at 5 p.m. when Saint Mary takes on the Moundbuilders.
