Baseball Drops Two Saturday

Bartlesville, Okla. – The University of Saint Mary baseball team dropped two in the first day of their three game series with (13) Oklahoma Wesleyan University Saturday afternoon, losing 26-9 and 14-4 to the Eagles on their home field. The games were moved to OKWU due to inclement weather.

The Spires are now 4-7 overall and 2-4 in the KCAC.

In the first game of the day, the Eagles bats were hot as they scored five runs in the first inning and would score every inning. OKWU led 23-0 before the Spires got on the board.

Chad Orendac got the team's first RBI with a single to third, which allowed Chad Flenar to score. Saint Mary rallied late to and scored nine runs in the seventh inning, but were denied the comeback.

Gilbert Rondon went 3-for-4 at the plate and had two RBI's.

OKWU's Ryan Sandifer was the winner on the mound. Yanthony Navarro took the loss for Saint Mary.

The Spires put up two runs in the first inning of the second game as they trailed 4-2 going into the second. The Eagles quickly turned on the gas and scored eight runs to give them a comfortable 12-3 lead. Saint Mary was unable to come back to snag the win.

OKWU's Michael Anderson was the winner on the mound for the Eagles. Adrian Cardenas took the loss for the Spires.

Daunte Freeman went 2-for-3 at the plate and had two RBI's.

Saint Mary will play Oklahoma Wesleyan University tomorrow in the final game of the three game series. The Spires will take the field at 2:00 pm.
