Men's Basketball Slips To Bulldogs

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – The University of Saint Mary men's basketball team had a rough night as they shot a season low 30.2 percent from the floor as McPherson College entered Ryan Sports Center to win 71-62 over the Spires Monday night.

The Spires are now 6-3 overall and 3-3 in the KCAC.

Both teams struggled early from the floor as Saint Mary led 18-17 with 6:11 remaining in the first half. The Bulldogs went on an 11-0 run to take an 11 point lead thereafter, but the Spires quickly trimmed the deficit. Brad Hailey would connect on a long range shot to cut the deficit to four at halftime, 31-27.

Saint Mary would continue to claw back early in the second half. McPherson however, never relinquished the lead and extended it to double-digits with 3:04 left at 66-56. The momentum continued down the stretch and McPherson held on for the win.

Jesse Moss led the team with 12 points and Donovan Sinegal pitched in 10 points, along with a team high eight rebounds.

The Spires travel to Lindsborg, Kan. on Thursday to take on Bethany College at 8 p.m.
