HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The No. 1 seed University of Saint Mary volleyball team opened up the KCAC Tournament with a 3-0 (25-17, 26-24, 25-20) sweep over Sterling College Friday evening, to advance to the KCAC Tournament Semifinals.
The Spires now have a 28-9 overall record.
The Spires found an easy going in the first set as they managed to hold the lead throughout, on their way to a 25-17 win. The second set would be tight however, where the Spires had to play to an extra point to seal the win. Saint Mary hung on, 26-24.
Sterling put up a fight in the third set, but the Spires continued to dominate as they held down the fort for the 25-20 set win.
Cali Odom led the team with nine kills, while Hana Ronnebaum and Anna Hester each had eight kills. Haydan Heuermann led the way with 24 assists and Keishla Reyes pitched in 16 digs.
