BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – The University of Saint Mary volleyball team picked up their 14th straight win on Saturday afternoon, a 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-16) sweep over Oklahoma Wesleyan.
The Spires are now 23-7 overall and an undefeated 9-0 in the KCAC.
Saint Mary would nearly fall in the first set, but was able to fend off the Eagles in the first set. Ashley Van Gieson ended the set on a kill to give the Spires a 25-21 win. Oklahoma Wesleyan would give the Spires another close call in the second set as both teams traded punches. Saint Mary would break a 17-17 tie with four straight points, before Cali Odom earned a kill and Maggie Mendoza served up an ace to give the team a 25-22 win.
The Spires would break away late in the third frame taking a 17-9 lead after a kill from Bianca Asheim. Saint Mary would lead by double-digits late before claiming the third set 25-16 after a kill from Jessica Malizzi and an attacking error by the Eagles.
Odom led the team with eight kills and Haydan Heuermann recorded 14 assists. Keishla Reyes added 12 digs, while Odom had six total blocks and Aly Camacho had four total blocks.
