LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – The University of Saint Mary women's basketball team fought back from an early deficit in the first quarter, but eventually slipped Saturday afternoon to (RV) Kansas Wesleyan, 76-70.
Saint Mary is now 5-16 overall and 4-14 in the KCAC.
The Spires got down early by as many as 12 points, but were able to inch their way back into the game and snag the lead 22-21. A basket by Danielle Cassady was the start of an 8-0 run and the Spires began to build their lead by as many as 15. After a fast paced second quarter, Saint Mary led 47-32. Kansas Wesleyan fought back and snuck away with the win in the end. Sienna Brown led the way with her fifth double-double of the season, recording 15 points and 13 rebounds. Tiani White was just shy of a double-double with 10 points and eight rebounds and Dakota Corle also scored in double-digits, as she ended with 11 points and five rebounds.
