POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. – The University of Saint Mary volleyball team swept Saint Louis College of Pharmacy and York College in three straight sets, in Day 1 of the Chick-Fil A Classic on the campus of College of the Ozarks Friday afternoon.
The Spires are now 10-7 on the season.
GAME FLOW (Saint Louis Pharmacy)
The Spires had a tough battle with the Eutectics in the first set, but Saint Mary was able to pull it out with a 27-25 victory. Saint Mary then settled in and won the next two sets to clinch the match. The Spires took the second set 25-19 and the third frame, 25-17.
Cody Offerle led the way with 15 kills, while Bailey Wright had 21 assists and Katy Koepke had 19 digs.
GAME FLOW (York)
Saint Mary and York traded points in the first set which led to 12 ties with the score knotted at 19. The Spires found themselves up 23-21 before taking the first set 25-21 after two errors from the Panthers.
The Spires sprinted out to a 10-2 lead in the second set, which helped them cruise to a 25-13 second frame win. York took the early lead in the third set at 7-5, but the Spires quickly worked their way within striking distance. Saint Mary would eventually take a 21-19 lead after a kill from Offerle and attacking error by the Panthers. Bianca Asheim and Ashley Van Gieson closed the match out for the Spires with one kill each to take the set, 25-20.
Offerle and Angela Wade each had double-digit kills with 13 and 11 respectively. Wright totaled 16 assists and Koepke had 19 digs.

- Saint Mary totaled six service aces on the day.
- The Spires had 91 total kills.
- Cali Odom led the team with two solo blocks.

The Spires will continue play at College of the Ozarks on Saturday, when they take on the Bobcats at 11 a.m., followed by No. 3 ranked Columbia College at 1 p.m.
