Leavenworth, Kansas – The University of Saint Mary women's basketball team could not overcome an eight-point halftime deficit, as they were unable to pull off the upset against the 13th ranked team in the nation, Sterling College.
The loss for the Spires dropped them to (1-6, 0-4 KCAC) after losing 64-35.
GAME FLOW
The Spires came out hoping to knock off a top 25 team and end their slump in conference play. After trailing 20-12 at the end of the first quarter, the Spires were able to outscore the Warriors to end the half. Saint Mary was unable to keep the fire going which allowed the Warriors to pull away in the second half. The Spires struggled shooting as they shot 23.7 percent from the field and had only one player in double digits (Paige Scheckel).
