Saint Mary Men's Basketball Tripped Up at Oklahoma Wesleyan

Saint Mary men's baskeball suffered a 70-54 loss at Oklahoma Wesleyan on Saturday. It was the first time in 19 games that the Spires suffered back to back losses this season after falling to Kansas Wesleyan earlier this week. Saint Mary is now 11-11 on the season and 9-7 in KCAC play.

Oklahoma Wesleyan jumped out to an early 11-2 lead on the Spires and led by as many as 19 points in the first half, but Saint Mary trimmed the deficit to eight points by halftime. The Spires hung around for the first 10 minutes of the second half, but Oklahoma Wesleyan would lead by double digits the rest of the half and take the victory.

Saint Mary shot ice cold in the loss shooting just 32% from the field and 12% from three point range. For the first time this season, the Spires did not have a scorer in double figures. Demetrius Cady led the way with nine points. Kenneth Banks led the Spires in rebounds with seven.

Saint Mary will return home on Wednesday when they host Tabor at 8pm in the Ryan Sports Center. Tabor beat Saint Mary in Hillsboro earlier this season 85-76. The Blue Jays are 10-12 this season and 9-7 in KCAC play.
