USM Volleyball Takes Straight Sets Over Bethel

Saint Mary volleyball hosted Bethel on Wednesday night in the Ryan Sports Center. The Spires claimed a straight set victory with scores of 25-18, 25-12, and 25-22. The win improves Saint Mary to 7-8 on the season and 4-4 in KCAC play.

Saint Mary jumped out to a 10-4 lead and maintained going on to a 25-18 final. In the second set, the Spires would have a 16-9 advantage before closing out the set with a 9-3 run. The third set saw a little more drama. Saint Mary would lead just 21-17 late in the set but held on for a 25-22 win to take the set and the match.

Savannah Fillion and Kaitlynn Lanier each had double digit kill totals. Fillion had 11 and Lanier finishedd with 10. Whitney Rock had 21 assists and Brittani Pascua added 12. On the defensive side, Katy Koepke had 16 digs and Alyssa Chung had nine. Maleka Benjamin and Lanier each had a block assist. Lanier also had a solo block.

The Spires are back in action on Friday at Bethany. The match will begin at 7pm in Lindsborg, KS.
