The Saint Mary men's basketball team earned an important 99-92 win over Friends at home on Thursday night. The win allowed the Spires to keep pace with York for second place in the KCAC Standings. Saint Mary is now 11-5 in KCAC play.
After trailing early on, Saint Mary would lead most of the game and push out to double digit leads in both halves. Friends did rally to trim the deficit to four points in the final minute of the game, but they would draw no closer as the Spires claimed the seven point victory.
Grant Greenberg posted a game high 31 points and five assists. Three other Spires also scored in double figures. Keiron Sauer had 16 points, Brett Marsh had 13 points, and Xavier Young added 10. Sauer was the leading rebounder for Saint Mary with seven rebounds in the win.
Saint Mary takes on York at home on Saturday at 3pm. The winner will earn sole posession of second place in the KCAC. York topped the Spires 84-71 in Nebraska earlier this season.
