Saint Mary men's basketball topped Bethany 95-79 in the opening round of the KCAC Tournament in the Ryan Sports Center on Thursday night. The win advances the Spires to the semifinals of the tournament where they will take on #23 Southwestern in Winfield, KS on Saturday night at 7pm. Saint Mary fell in both contests during the regular season to Southwestern.

The Spires controlled majority of the game as they pushed out to a 14 point lead during the first half before taking an eight point lead into halftime. In the second half, Saint Mary would keep the foot on the pedal pushing out to a 21 point lead at one point before taking the 16 point victory.

Grant Greenberg led Saint Mary with 29 points. Trent Richardson had 22 points. Andre Clark and Jordan Thomas each added 10 points. Keiron Sauer led the Spires in rebounds with 13.

With a win on Saturday, the Spires would advance to Championship Monday for the KCAC Men's Basketball Tournament Championship Game where they would face the winner of the other semifinal game featuring Tabor and Friends.
