Women's Baskeball Clipped by #11 Tabor

Saint Mary women's basketball brought a spirited effort Saturday in the Ryan Sports Center when they hosted #11 Tabor, but the Spires would fall just short in a 69-63 loss. Saint Mary is now 2-3 in KCAC play.

The Spires would hold a four point lead at one point in the first quarter. Tabor would never trail again in the game. Saint Mary had the game tied in the second quarter, but Tabor would pull away for a five point halftime lead.

Tabor extended their lead to10 points in the third quarter. The Spires batlled back in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to four points with five seconds left in the game, but the Blue Jays would hit two free throws to seal the victory.

Imani White had a team high 18 points for the Spires. Kelsey Switzer contributed in all phases with 11 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Ashley Hinkle added 13 points. Candy De Los Reyes provided 10 points and six rebounds. The Spires shot 47% from the field, but made just one of 11 three point attempts and shot 64% from the free throw line.

The women's basketball team is back in action with a non-conference matchup at Grace University on Tuesday at 5pm. The Spires resume KCAC play on Thursday at 6pm at Friends.
