The Saint Mary volleyball team extended their winning streak to four with a three set victory at Southwestern on Saturday. The Spires are now 8-6 in KCAC play. Saint Mary sits one game back of McPherson for fifth place in the KCAC Standings.
Despite winning the match in three sets, the Spires were tested early on by the Moundbuilders. The first set went to extra points, but Saint Mary would take the set by a final of 28-26. The second set reamined tight with Saint Mary again topping Southwestern 25-22. The Spires would roll in the third set to a 25-11 win, securiing the match.
Megan Diaz had her second match of the week with double digit dig totals. She led the Spires with 13 kills in the match. Holly McDowell posted 11 kills. Kaitlynn Lanier would offer nine kills while Savannah Fillion finished with eight.
Whitney Rock had 42 assists. It is the third straight 40+ assist match for Rock and the fifth in her last eight matches. Allyssa Koki led the defense with 21 digs. Holly McDowell had 11 digs in the match as well. Diaz led the Spires in block assists with five.
Saint Mary hosts Tabor tonight at 7pm. Tabor currently sits in second place in the KCAC with a 13-2 in KCAC play.The Spires fell to the Blue Jays in four sets in their first match this season.
