Volleyball Closes out Season, Preps for KCAC Tourney

The Saint Mary volleyball team closed out their season last week. The Spires were victorious in a match against Southwestern College but came up short against McPherson College putting their record on the week at 1-1.


In the win against Southwestern, Allie Massanet had a season-high of 43 digs. Anne Beck had had 20 digs. Shannon Anderson had 16 and Megan Fisher had 13. The team combined for 126 digs in the game.

Offensively, Peyton Pender led the way with 19 kills. Anderson had 16, Aubrey Harris put up 12 and Haley Eastburn contributed 10. Danielle Dowdy had 56 assists.

The Spires took the first game 25-14, but then lost back­-to-back games, setting up a dramatic finish as the fourth and fifth games went into extra points.

It was the 11th win of the season for the Spires.

They finish the season with an 11-25 record, 4-14 in conference.

This week Saint Mary will compete in the KCAC Tournament.
