Spires Volleyball Players Shine During Tourney

The Spire volleyball team was in action this weekend hosting a triangle tourney on Saturday against Missouri Valley College and Southwestern College. While the team was unable to secure a victory. Several players played admirably.

In the game against Southwester, Peyton Pender led the attack on offense. She piled up 15 kills. Jasmine Nichols also got in on the action, putting up 10 kills. Haley Eastburn and Shannon Anderson also had nine. Danielle Dowdy contributed 41 assists to the offensive attack. Defensively, Megan Fisher pulled out 14 digs. Allie Massanet had 11 and Dowdy added seven.

Against Missouri Valley, Nichols had nine kills. Anderson and Pender had seven each as well. Massanet had 10 digs. Dowdy put up 29 assists.


This week the team will be in action three times.

Monday the Spires will travel to Atchison, Kan., to take on Benedictine College in a non-conference matchup at 7 p.m. Saint Mary will host two conference matches later in the week, taking on McPherson College on Wednesday at 7 p.m. and Kansas Wesleyan on Saturday at 1 p.m. Come support the volleyball team as they look to get back on the winning track this week.
