Leavenworth, Kan.—It was a huge night on campus for Spire men's and women's wrestling. Each squad showed out for their final home dual of the 2025-26 season against fellow KCAC opponent, the Friends University Falcons. After a nail biter of a victory, the Spire men have clenched the KCAC Regular Season Championship for the second year straight.

Both the No. 18 ranked Spire men and the RV Spire women's teams secured wins in the Ryan Sports Center on Senior Night as the KCAC Championships loom just around the corner on Saturday, February 21st in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Matches were light on the women's side, but the Spires took advantage of every opportunity given. No. 9 Destiny Jones and No. 5 Alexsys Jacquez both saw open matches, winning by forfeit from the Falcons.

Madison Kalamau (124lb.), currently ranked No. 19 in all of NAIA, was the first Spire to see action. Madison defeated the Falcons by criteria with a final tally of 7-7.

The wins would pile up from there with No. 17 ranked Skylur Lewis up next. Lewis (138lb.) has been absolutely dominant lately and last night was no different. Skylur grinded out a tough opponent and won by way of pin in the final period to further boost her team over the visitors from Wichita.

The final women's match of the evening would feature Kristal Zamora in the 160lb. weight-class. Zamora would also make light work of her Falcons opponent as she skillfully pulled off a 10-0 decision win to capitalize on an already successful evening for USM. With this final victory, the women would pull away with a 27-21 victory.

The men's match lived up to expectations between the No. 17 Falcons and No. 18 Spires and each squad consisting of a host of nationally ranked competitors.

Like clockwork, the senior out of Oklahoma and No. 3 ranked Brody Gee (125lb.) would start the Spires off strong with a quick win over Ledford with Friends, giving the Spires a quick 6 points. Up next was Gee's counterpart, Roman De La Cruz in the 133lb. class. Roman would put up an absolute battle and nearly have his opponent pinned early on in the match, but tides would turn in the Falcons favor when late into the round De La Cruz would lose by fall.

His team would instantly pick him up, as the Spires would win the next four matches, starting with Bobby Burke. Burke would prove crucial to the USM efforts in his match against No. 18 Gardner of Friends and grind out a gritty win 4-1 against his ranked opponent.

Freshman Benjamin Smith would keep the W's coming for his team. Smith would be aggressive from the very first whistle and get his teammates and coaches out of their seats when he pinned his Friends opponent in the 149lb. match.

Fellow freshman Graham Kilpper would continue with his team's success in the 165lb. match. Graham would have to fight through a gutsy match against the Falcons, but would ultimately come out on top by a hard-fought 5-0 decision.

Michael Ager and Orinn Hubbard would each face tough match-ups in the 174lb. and 184lb. matches, respectively. Ager and Hubbard would both start strong, but be defeated by way of fall in back-to-back face-offs.

The Spires would need every bit of the last two matches from Gabe Chesbro and heavyweight Devon Lolar, and without fear they would deliver.

Chesbro, the senior out of Tulsa, Oklahoma, would be pivotal on senior night. Gabe, currently ranked No. 20 nationally, would fight from the very beginning and be rewarded for it with a quick victory by fall over the Falcons, setting the table for teammate Devon Lolar.

Lolar would have to grind out his win for USM in the final round of the night at the 285lb. weight-class. Devon would battle to the final whistle and earn the 7-2 victory for the Spires, finalizing the overall score for USM with 28 total points to the Falcons 18 points.

With the sweep, USM will prepare for their biggest matches yet at the KCAC Championships on Saturday, February 21st in Bartlesville. To keep up with all the latest individual rankings as the year comes to a close, follow along on The Open Mat.
