Leavenworth, Kan.— USM women's soccer fell 1-0 to York University (NE) on Saturday, October 17th, in Leavenworth, Kansas with the Panther's Bayer's goal at 11:10 off an assist from Prats deciding the Spires Senior Day match.

USM faced pressure early, with first half goalkeeper Angelica Quintana-Aficial stopping Reynolds at 6:24 before Reynolds hit the post at 10:38. After YU moved ahead, Quintana-Aficial denied Tutt at 23:45 to finish with two saves in the opening 45 minutes. Allena Collins added a defensive save on Reynolds' attempt at 28:25, keeping the deficit at one goal.

The Spires generated four shots before halftime, beginning with Chloe Killgore's attempt at 27:38 that forced a save from Cornejo. Litzy Mendoza sent a shot high at 31:37, and Nir Darjee tested Cornejo at 36:57. Diana Aguilar put another attempt on target at 45:00, but Cornejo made the stop to send USM into halftime trailing 1-0.

Bre'Ella DeMaranville took over in goal for the second half and made the first of six saves on Ravat's shot at 47:17. Alaina Thomas produced Saint Mary's only shot of the half at 61:54, with Cornejo again making the save. The Panthers finished with a 20-5 advantage in shots and a 12-4 edge in shots on goal, while Cornejo recorded four saves for the shutout.

The Spire defense continued to hold the margin at one through a demanding closing stretch. Killgore made a defensive save on Tornero's shot at 75:55, and DeMaranville stopped another Tornero attempt three seconds later. DeMaranville then denied YU's Bayer at 79:04 and saved Tutt's header at 82:56, completing a scoreless 45-minute appearance.

The result left the Spires at 1-7-1 in conference play, while York moved to 5-5-0. The Spires combined eight goalkeeper saves with three defensive saves. Cierra Dominick supplied the final defensive stop at 87:39, turning away Reynolds' shot to keep the Spires within one goal.
