Leavenworth, KS – The University of Saint Mary flag football team faced a tough challenge falling to William Woods University (MO) with a final score of 34-6.
William Woods established an early lead, scoring a touchdown on their opening drive. They followed up with a safety and another touchdown before the end of the first quarter, putting the Spires in a 15-0 hole. The Owls continued their offensive momentum throughout the game, adding two more touchdowns in the second quarter and a final one in the fourth.
Despite the score, the Spires showed resilience in the final half of the game. A nine-play, 66-yard drive culminated in a Saint Mary touchdown as time expired.
Offensively, the Spires struggled to find consistency against a strong William Woods defense. Quarterback Ariana Rivera completed 21 of 32 passes for 118 yards and one touchdown. Brooklin Hill led the receiving corps with nine catches for 84 yards, while London Reed added seven receptions for 47 yards.
Defensively, the Spires faced a potent William Woods attack that amassed 198 total offensive yards. Sa'Niya Glover recorded the lone interception for Saint Mary.
