FREMONT, Neb. – The University of Saint Mary Spires flag football team faced a tough challenge on the road, falling 34-6 to the Midland Warriors. Despite their efforts, the Spires were unable to overcome the strong Midland squad.
Midland started the game strong, scoring two touchdowns in the first quarter and converting both one-point conversion passes, taking an early 14-0 lead. They continued their momentum into the second quarter, adding three more touchdowns and converting two of the one-point conversion attempts, pushing their lead to 34-0 at halftime.
The Spires struggled to find their rhythm offensively, managing only 115 total yards for the game. Their passing game was challenged, with three interceptions thrown. Defensively, the Spires faced a potent Midland offense, which racked up 292 total yards.
One of the lone highlights for the Spires came late in the fourth quarter when Brooklin Hill made 7 catches for 67 yards, culminating in the team's only touchdown. The two-point conversion attempt failed, bringing the final score to 34-6.

With this loss, the Spires move to 1-3 overall. The team will return home to face Hesston College on Saturday, March 15th at 6 p.m.
