Marshall, Mo.—Spire women's wrestling traveled to Marshall to compete in the Missouri Valley Invite hosted by the #18 ranked Missouri Valley Vikings. The Burns Athletic Complex hosted teams in all divisions of collegiate women's wrestling this weekend, including NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and JUCO. The Missouri Valley Open is the largest women's collegiate wrestling tournament in the country, and includes more than 50 teams and over 700 women's wrestlers.
The Spires were led by junior
Alexsys Jacquez—who is currently ranked #6 in all of NAIA in the 110lb-weight class—as she was victorious over Ivory Truitt of Texas Wesleyan University by decision, and two tech fall wins over Dolan of Carl Albert and Alyssa Olson of Morningside. Jacquez fell to Tchekounova and Pendergrass each of Quincy University.
Freshman
Allison King (145lb-weight class) saw one win on the weekend over Virginia Myers of Graceland University and fell twice to Alexis Means and Jennifer Soto of Friends University and Tarleton State, respectively. Sophomore and #5 ranked
Destiny Jones (103lb-weight class) split her weekend with two wins and two losses. Both wins for Jones however were dominant as she defeated Kyndall Jeanes of Schreiner University 10-0 and again was triumphant over Morgan Repasky of Montreat with a final score of 12-1. Destiny fought hard and held her own, but was defeated by Rianna Murphy from the University of Iowa as well as Mia Zuniga from Colorado Mesa University.
Freshman
Gwen Musser also split two wins and two losses in the 138lb-weight class coming out on top with two falls over Oriyana Castex of University of the Cumberlands and Emma Coyle from Schreiner University.
Kristal Zamora went 1-2 on the weekend with a win by fall over Annsleigh Alexander of Central Methodist University, but suffered two tech falls over Olson of Grand View University and Flaherty of Texas Woman's University. Similarly, 131lb wrestler,
Rachel Dismuke won by decision over Dawkins of Schreiner University but faced two losses coming from Shelby Kemp and Jill High of William Jewell College and York University, respectfully. Spire wrestlers
Ka'aulani Hew-Len in the 117lb weight class and sophomore
Talyn Naylor in the 26-lb-weight class both faced two difficult defeats at the highly competitive tournament.

th with matches set to begin at 9:00 a.m.
