Pella, Iowa- The University of Saint Mary Men's Tennis team traveled to take on Central College on Saturday, resulting in an 8-1 win over the Dutch. It was the first win under head coach Austin Hale, and the Spires are now 1-0 in the fall season.
The doubles groups of Evan Maritz/ Kevin Eutsey and Leyton Ross/ Demetri Serrano got the Spires on the board, winning their matches 8-3. The final doubles group of William Ogrizovich and Jack Contrucci were able to help Saint Mary sweep the doubles matches and took a 3-0 lead.
In the singles matches, the Spires continued to build their lead over the Dutch. Eutsey, Maritz, Ogrizovich, Contrucci, and Serrano all won their matches in two sets, including 6-0 and 6-3 performances from Maritz and Contrucci.
