Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Women's Soccer team took on Bethel College on Saturday, winning 4-0. The Spire's overall record is now 6-3-5 and 6-1-4 in conference play.
The Spires started the scoring early with a goal from Abbie Rodgers to give the Spires a 1-0 lead. The rest of the half featured strong defensive play from both sides, as the score held 1-0 heading into halftime.
Saint Mary came out of the gate again, looking to score. A goal by Jaidyn Yingling in the 54 minute helped the Spires extend the lead to 2-0. Rodgers scored her second goal of the day in the 67th minute to make it a 3-0 game. To seal the game off, Kate Erpelding scored the day's final goal for Saint Mary to give them a 4-0 win. Marisol Vargas recorded four saves on the day.
