Women's Soccer Shuts Out York 3-0

YORK Neb. – It was not until the second half that the offensive display would take place for the University of Saint Mary women's soccer team as they shutout York College 3-0 Wednesday afternoon. Katy St. Martin ignited the scoring with the first goal in the 61st minute before the team put in two more goals in the second half.

Saint Mary is now 3-7-3 overall and 3-5-1 in KCAC play.

The Spires took a total of 12 shots in the game with a majority coming in the first half. Both teams would go scoreless into the locker room at halftime, still searching to put together some momentum. St. Martin and Grace Sanford each took back-to-back shots midway through the second half where neither could cross the goal line. Then two minutes later is when St. Martin connected for the first score of the game.

Goalkeeper Maea Ploetz continued to turn away a few shots from the Panthers, before Karleigh Enyart scored to give the Spires a 2-0 lead in the 75th minute. Enyart would add her second goal of the game in the 89th minute and the Spires came out victorious 3-0.

Enyart had two goals for the Spires and Ploetz recorded two saves in goal.

Saint Mary returns to Berkel Memorial Stadium to host Avila University on Saturday for a 5:30 p.m. kickoff.
