USM Softball Splits with Tabor

Saint Mary softball earned a split with Tabor on Saturday. The Spires are now 9-7 in KCAC play. They currently sit in sixth place of the KCAC with six games remaining in the regular season.

In game one, the Blue Jays scored a run in the first and another in the second to take a 2-0 lead early in the game. The Spires would be unable to score managing five hits in the game. Carrie Lee tosed four innings and allowed two runs. Selena Ruiz and Samantha Torres pitched three scoreless innings in relief.

The offense would break out in the second game of the day. The Spires took and 8-2 victory with 12 hits in the game. Hannah Gradillas, Tycee Coplan, Samantha Torres, and Nicole DeSimone each had two hits. Selena Ruiz, DeSimone, and Torres each had two RBI. Lee started and pitched four and two thirds innings allowing two runs. She struck out five and walked one. Abagail Gonzales and Ruiz combined for two and a third innings of scoreless relief.

The Spires begin a six game week with a double header at Southwestern on Tuesday at 2pm.
